Civil Law

Civil Law

Advice and representation in civil, property, contractual, inheritance and family matters, with personalised attention and a practical approach focused on protecting our clients' interests.

What we do

We handle civil matters for individuals and companies, seeking clear and efficient solutions, both in court proceedings and in out-of-court steps and settlements.

  • Successions and declarations of heirs, including court proceedings and the steps needed for the award and registration of assets.
  • Divorces, dissolution and liquidation of the marital community and related property matters.
  • Matters concerning persons and family, including rectifications and other court proceedings of a civil nature.
  • Drafting, review and negotiation of civil contracts: sale, lease, loan and services.
  • Recovery of debts and obligations, enforcement of contracts and guarantees.
  • Contractual and non-contractual liability, claims for damages.
  • Out-of-court negotiations, agreements and settlements, seeking to resolve disputes without litigation where appropriate.
  • Representation in civil proceedings and lawsuits before the courts.

How we work

Every matter begins with an honest assessment of its strengths, risks, costs and timing. When a settlement resolves the dispute better than a lawsuit, we say so; when litigation is necessary, we prepare it rigorously and keep the client constantly informed about progress and decisions. That way of working — clear, direct and results-oriented — is the same we apply in Intellectual Property and corporate matters.

For international clients

We advise and represent individuals and companies from abroad in civil and property matters in Paraguay, including successions, assets located in the country, contracts and court proceedings. We coordinate the documentation required for use in Paraguay and work, where appropriate, with the client's lawyers in their home country, communicating in English and Portuguese.

Frequently asked questions

Is it always best to sue over a breached contract?

No. A formal demand and a well-conducted negotiation often achieve performance or a settlement faster and at lower cost. We assess the situation and recommend the most efficient route for the client.

Do you handle civil matters for both companies and individuals?

Yes. We advise and represent companies and individuals in contractual, property and court matters.

Can you represent a client who lives abroad?

Yes. With the appropriate power of attorney we represent foreign clients in Paraguay and maintain direct communication in English or Portuguese throughout the matter.
